I'm very sorry your Dad had to go through all that. I love that generation of humans. My Dad and Aunt had the most horrific childhood, shuffled in and out of foster homes, abused. They both still had good hearts though and didn't blame anyone for it. Both of them loved their Mom and realized it wasn't easy for a single Mom to raise children alone in the 1940's. It's a balance indeed! I don't want to be that old man in the room still trying to be like someone three decades younger but wouldn't be opposed to aging gracefully.
