RE: Memoir Monday #29 (9/23-9/29) - How would you describe your parents' relationship?
Absolutely! I think psychedelic therapy would have really helped. Things like psilocybin, ketamine, and DMT are being used in wonderful ways to heal people from past trauma. Yes, I can't imagine how tough

She was heroic in many ways but gave up a whole lot in the process. In the end it all worked out. Since my dad passed in 2020 she's made friends and is figuring out who she is. It's been fun to watch her

The weird thing about that kind of childhood trauma is, in a way, it seems "normal" when you're going through it. The hard part comes later as you discover it wasn't normal and then you have

RE: Throwing Away The Gold. #memoir
I'm sorry to hear that your paternal relatives tried to turn you against your mother. Mothers have a way of knowing their children's true feelings, even if they go unspoken or unrealized by the child.

RE: Memory Monday. My experience learning to ride a bike (Es-Eng)
The Fiorenza sounds similar to my Brompton! I really like the convenience of the folding bikes. It sounds like you learned to ride quickly! I don't think there was anything quite like the thrill of learning

RE: Memoir Monday: Phoebe does not know how to ride a bicycle
I'm surprised you don't know how to ride! I think you'd love it, especially along the beach. Cycling unlocks a different level of freedom, even if you have an automobile, it's fun to ride to places like

I love that! I hadn't heard about that "movement" but I'm glad it's finally happening. Yes, I heard about the social media ban and I was just telling my Mom the other day I think 14 should be

RE: The Hibiscus Flower And Love Promises!
Very good advice, Edith and great use of metaphor! Growing up in 70's/80's America what we were taught about love (mainly through movies and TV) was unrealistic and unattainable. This put us at a great

I feel it too. This summer I've forced myself to read for at least twenty minutes a day and I felt my attention span coming back after a few days and I started looking forward to that regular reading time.

I'm glad it worked out for you! The food you made looks delicious. I like having the red cabbage as a side. Sometimes I'll buy a bag of the pre-sliced cabbage slaw mix and saute that with some kielbasa

RE: DIY, Scope Creep, and Looking Forward
The craftsman style is my favorite. Our last house was one of the Sears craftsman kit homes. It’s really a timeless design. The market is the same way here but is beginning to cool down, less bidding wars

Oh no! It's unbelievable what you find once you start opening the walls up. Our last house was built in 1923 and was actually pretty solid but my previous house was from 1940 and it was a hot mess. We

Such a poignant post. As a self-published author I saw demand for my books peak around 2015 or so and then drop off a little more each year. Now it's gotten to the point where I have an manuscript about

I remember the days of those DIY projects! I think they're always at least 25% tougher than we think they're going to be. Thank God for YouTube though. We're looking for a new place to live now and something

We found out about 4Daasge through the YouTuber's Kara and Nate. I immediately knew I wanted to try it. They're not allowing people to sign up for 2025 yet but I hope I can get registered and make it happen.

Yes, exciting times! We didn't hear any Fado when we were there. I don't think they had any music at any of the official events and we didn't really go out to any of the bars at night. My favorite part
