After the success that 'Joker' is having at the Venice festival, it is almost a fact or at least I think so, that they will continue to produce more films like Joker, comicbook movies for mature audiences, with less budget, and with a good story that helps develop the character in a complete way, comicbook films that do not necessarily need to be supported by a cinematic universe to get the attention of fans or the general public, something different.

In my opinion, a good option would be to adapt a story of the Penguin, whose last appearance on the big screen was in the movie Batman Returns directed by Tim Burton.

I think it should be a gangster movie with a political theme that surrounds this character and those around him, something like a combination of the Godfather and GoodFellas.

My first option would be Martin Scorsese, and my second option Denis Villeneuve that has brought great films like Blade Runner 2049 or Sicario.

Although Matthew Mcconaughey has just retired from the movies, I think he would be a very good option to play a young Oswald Cobblepot, if not, James Mccavoy would be my second choice, since he has shown a great talent to interpret several characters and has that manic ego vibe that the Penguin has.
