Recently the new trailer of the movie Terminator Dark Fate was published, and has had many people doubting if it is really worth watching this film being the sixth in the saga, considering that Terminator 3, Terminator Salvation and Terminator Genysis did not have good Reception by the public and critics.
What differentiates this latest installment from the others?
- It will be rated-R.
This film, unlike the previous three, according to the recent trailer, has strong language and visceral violence, which automatically makes it an R rating, and therefore can only be seen by adults, this is something that I find interesting given the low hopes this movie has by the public, and is at risk of having box office losses since it will only be accessible to a part of the public, which makes me think that the creators have faith in the project.
- It is a direct sequel to Terminator 2.
As mentioned at the beginning of this post, the three previous installments did not have very good reception, so the creators of Terminator Dark Fate decided that such films would not be canon in the Terminator universe, and therefore the new installment will be a Direct sequel to Terminator 2, bringing stars of that era like Linda Hamilton and even Edward Furlong who played John Connor in the second film.
- James Cameron returns as producer.
James Cameron the director of Terminator 1 and 2, films acclaimed by the public and critics, returns this time as producer of Terminator Dark Fate. The films from the third, began to lose quality since he completely disassociated himself from that saga, and I think Cameron, supervising this new installment and putting his vision on it, is a good sign.
Answering the question of the title, I think this movie it's worth watching, for the reasons mentioned above, and because I think the story will be interesting, since it comes from the hand of the original creator of the franchise, and that he can close with a flourish (I hope) in what from the beginning should have been in my opinion, a trilogy.
