I wrote a post a couple of weeks ago talking about an idea I was going to stress test with an experimental sprint. The very next day I posted an update to that post at the top of the page. You can see that post and update here: @epodcaster/stress-testing-ideas-905328
I also created one of my Daily Voice posts to share my surprise at how quickly the idea was validated. You can hear my excitement by clicking play in this post: @epodcaster/daily-voice-8-12-26-unexpected-surprises-msqv0mdh
Now that the stress test was done much sooner than I had anticipated, it was time to put the idea into action. I already had the domain. I'd had it for some time so this idea was something I'd been kicking around in my head, but hadn't taken action on. What I needed to do was make that domain work for me and this idea. So, I fired up a Wordpress install and set to crafting the landing page. Since this was phase one of the project, it was going to be super simple. A landing page would do everything that needed to be done because the goal is for folks to self-identify and then book a discovery call.
NOTE: The landing page is also an experiment. Sure, I've spoken to peers and a former client about my idea, but what about the business professionals that are my right-fit client? What would they say once they encountered the concept? The only way to know is to test. Which is why a landing page is perfect for this phase of the project.
I took the pitch I had feverishly written and subsequently read to the three people who told me to "go for it". Now it was time to take those same words and make then land without me there to offer additional context.
With two in-person events in the next two weeks, time is of the essence on this project so that I can further stress test the idea and website messaging. Which means this first iteration is all about progress and NOT perfection. Get something out there with plans to develop it further as I continue to learn from the actual business professionals who will take a look at this and say, "Hey, that's exactly what I need!"
Will this work? The only way to know is to put it out into the world.
