Toddlers can be a handful. But, they are also at some of the funniest stages of life. For one, they are like sponges, learning about things around them. I find myself needing to mind my own behavior more than normal. It may sound stressful, but it's for their betterment and development.
The other day, my kid went up to me and wanted to show me something.
"Dada, dada, look! Monster in a jar!"
He had put his Cookie Monster plush toy inside the empty jar that held the magnetic letters. I started laughing because of how random and unexpected the scenario was at the time. Upon a bit of reflection, I thought it might had something to do with a clip we had watched.
Ah yes, he must have remembered the Monster in a Box parody, which also involved Cookie Monster. Sesame Street has clever skits that not only cater to children, but also adults who are with them. In this case, the video likely made a huge impression. At least, he's learning his prepositions.
While we are on the subject of learning, it's also amazing how much they can pick up. It didn't take long for him to recognize the 50 states of America on a map. I'm not sure if it's the puzzles or the songs related to them that facilitated the learning. I have the mother to thank for that. Or, he has a talent for geography, who knows?
As for me, it's a learning process as well. To figure out what's the best approach to raising my son and my own conduct. Each kid is different because each person is different. You know what they say, it's about the journey and not the destination.
