Having experienced a bit of both era, analog and digital, I can say for sure; a lot has changed. Humans wishes used to be very simple, like we are following a structured script. We are born, we start climbing the academic ladder as fast as possible, just to acquire a job. For every graduate, there seem to be a job waiting, such was the privilege enjoyed in those days.

‎With a job in mind, education seem like a small price to pay to have a comfortable and pleasant future. We have all at some point dreamt of a job that will enable us to achieve our dreams: Dream cars, dream houses e.t.c the list goes on and on. This became the primary motivator for every student to study and for parents to spend till they have nothing, just to make sure their children acquire a degree.

‎Truthfully, education is indeed the best legacy but the privileges attached to it suddenly became too far to reach. With thousands of students graduating every year and less established companies, the labour market became crowded, unable to cater for every graduate searching for a job, not just to start a career but you earn a living. People who had labour for years studying as hard as possible, to acquire good grades, suddenly become a victim of unfavorable labour market.

‎The more the issue persist, people started seeking solution; thinking outside the box. It takes a lot to force humans to think beyond what our eyes can see, well poverty just happens to be a formidable force, strong enough to force creative ideas into our heads. It started as just a rumor, to work from home, people saw it as a lazy man job or an excuse for unemployment. It became a side hustle for most people, while handling a normal job, a remote/ freelance job is like an appetizer.

‎Then something occured, which changed how people perceived remote jobs or freelancing, COVID-19 happened. An era that made it impossible for those who had jobs to go to work. Companies that rely solely on physical attendence of employees could not pay their staff for a job that was not done. While organization with online presence, started making money from increased online presence. Since public gatherings wasn't allowed, the only way people could have fun is to rely on whatever content can be seen online.

‎That is how people started seeing great potentials in remote jobs. Spontaneously, people started sharpening their hidden skills, while companies became more vested in promoting remote jobs. Which means, an organization can have thousands of staff with no single office. Everyone working from home, getting paid while getting their task done. A person can work for more than 10 clients per day, each paying for different services.

‎Will remote job become irrelevant in the future? I don't think so. I believe it is going to take a different shape, evolve into something else. Something with more potential, something more productive. In this era of digitalism, remote jobs seems like the only way to survive. It eradicate the issues of unemployment. What makes remote job relevant is not just about the job but the problem it solves.
