Asia Reaves and her sister, Maria had an abusive father who made their lives miserable.
Asia was already a teenager and Maria was still a child, when she had to shoot their father in order to escape from his brutality, unfortunately he survived the shot and she couldn't take Maria with her.
After serving in jail, ten years later, she was freed and came back for her sister. Things had taken a different shape, Maria got hired by a rich family as a house keeper but since then, no one had set their eyes on her.
Asia Reaves had to find a way to get into the building to find out what had become of her little sister, but she can only do so by disguising herself as someone seeking for a job.
She eventually got hired but that was the beginning of trouble. That same night, the resident of the house began attempting to kill her.
After killing a few of them, Asia Reaves discovers that mysteriously, they have the power to return to life no matter how fatal their death incident occurred.
Ray, one of the workers and member of the family, was not pleased with the idea of killing Asia, so he decided to help her.
It was then she realized she was dealing with something beyond this realm. The entire member of the family including the workers belongs to a cult.
They have sold their souls to the devil for long life, wealth and power but in return they must continually offer human sacrifice to renew their covenant.
Fortunately, Maria Reaves was pardoned and initiated into the cult the day she was to be killed and that happened because one of the workers stole from the family; breaking a rule, so instead of sacrificing Maria, the worker was sacrificed in her place but she must replace the worker.
Asia eventually found Maria through the aid of Ray, but they have the entire immortal family to fight in order to escape.
I am impressed with the visual effects. I can remember a scene where a lady's head exploded, yet one of her eyes was still alive and chasing Asia Reaves.
There were so many mind-blowing visual activities that made the movie catchy.
Another thing that caught my attention is how the movie presented the love Asia has for her sister; even when Maria died, she took her corpse outside the building and refused to lose faith until she resurrected, that was brilliant.
I must confess that Asia Reaves did well with her role. She made the character special with the display of bravery and resilience. The character is an embodiment of survival.
Even though there was so much blood in the movie, mixing the activities with a little comedy makes it balanced.
For the weaknesses, I think there were just too many characters in this movie and they were not given enough room to explore.
There were many enemies who were brought to the light but they didn't do much and that's quite off for me.
The relationship between Asia and Maria was not deeply harnessed, the kind of connection I expected to see between the sisters was not what I got.
I will recommend the movie to those interested in horror, action and comedy movies, you won't regret watching it.
