One Place I Don't Want To Visit
As humans one of the basic things we consider before settling down in a place is safety or security. It doesn't matter how flourishing a place is, it doesn't matter the kind of opportunities that are there, as long as the place is not safe, people would always be scared to visit or even dwell there unless they have no other alternative.
I consider security very well before visiting any place, this life we have is one, once it goes out of us, it doesn't come back again. I am someone who loves to explore places. I love traveling so much that I don't mind spending every day on the road visiting new places if only I had the money.
But there are places that even if you would give free transportation, and free food, and still pay me, I would never visit them. I know I love going for adventure so much, I love going extra length, I love daring things but you see places like Borno State, Nigeria and Maiduguri to be precise, I don't think I want to know what that place looks like.
Since 2005, when I started hearing about Boko Haram to date, they are still so hot in that place. One of my friends who is in the army and posted there said, people in regions where Boko Haram dwell are all considered suspects.
You have to be moving with your Identity Card always, in fact, there are places where citizens are restricted from entering, if you are seen there, the soldiers will just open fire on you.
I feel so bad for people who live in that place, especially the villages, how would I be living in my place like a criminal? Seriously sometimes, i wonder how those living there are surviving, It's so painful.
I know people can be so exaggerative at times but with what I have heard about Maiduguri, even if you will give millions of dollars, I will not visit that place, though I won't say "never" because I don't know what tomorrow holds, a force beyond my power could compel me there, but on my own, I don't want to ever visit that place.
Even if the most beautiful places on earth are there, they should keep it to themself, even if the best opportunities on earth are there, they should keep it, even if they give free food every hour, I rather stay down here and eat once a day than go somewhere where even the a shout for joy can set everyone in a serious race.
It is my sincere prayer that things get better for them over there and this issue of Boko Haram will come to an end. People are going through so much over there. We are here relaxing in our homes, someone down there has been running in the woods since morning just to survive, it's just so pathetic.
