Do We Really Have Rights?

With the way things are happening in the world today, I am almost tempted to believe that those who create the law are above the law. we can't deny the fact that those in the government and other higher positions are either directly or indirectly above the law. I believe you have seen many instances where security men who arrest those who smoke and take hard drugs, taking thesame drugs and smoking themselves as well. Hehe funny world, I thought leaders are supposed to be the first examples.
I believe when the issue of human rights came, the entire world celebrated thinking that freedom has really come into the world but later on I believe they were so disappointed to see how those in government manipulate everything to their favour.
I would be discussing this in a different perspective, it might not look big to you now but probably as you read further you would understand where am heading to. Firstly I want to generalized the government to leaders in general. Those holding bigger positions whether in the family, private organization, school, class room e. t. c though that is just for this subject and it doesn't apply anywhere else. I just want us to get a clearer picture.
Recently, I sat down and I was contemplating over this right issue and I came to understand that only leaders seems to enjoy full rights. We were told that rights are the entitlement of every human except in some cases limitations can set in. But why is it that a boss can scold his worker over late coming to work and sometimes even make deductions from their salaries but when the boss comes late nothing is done? Wow!! Some kind of god right?
Some weeks back, police where on patrol arresting those smoking marijuana. What a wonderful thing that is. Say no to drugs, it kills and bla, bla, bla but same marijuana they seized from those culprits is what they smoke later. I was shocked when I saw a police officer who escorted one governor to be smoking cigarettes and taking gin publicly on his uniforms. I can't count how many times I saw some officers smoking marijuana which is illegal in the country yet no one does anything why? Because they are in the government.
Oh! I thought, the government is composed of everyone but now it is a thing of certain class of people. I even heard one said, we make the law and we break the law 🤣. This might sound funny but the day you fall into Police hands for drug case you will understand better.
Government officials commit great crimes yet no one does anything about it. Don't you know he is the governor some may say, do you want to spoil the states reputation? Come on? Where are we going with all this things? Only those in higher positions are truly entitled to rights but the subjects are only but slaves. Those below can only perceive the aroma but the main food is eaten by the big boys and girls on suits🤣 so pathetic.
Now I spoke more about those in big office and you thought I wouldn't come down to the low level? Heheh. Permit me to talk about family.
In the family, our parents and elder ones are the government hehe. They legislate and executive. There are families where the children and mothers have no right at all. The father seem to be the overall. He sets laws and rules in the house, how beautiful! Everyone is below such laws but he is not. A husband will tell his wife not to keep late outside but he goes out and comes by midnight. Bravo👏 he wants everyone to listen to him but you dare not tell him anything talk more of correct him, you are dead. Some husbands even go to the extent of beating their wives, What are you teaching your kids then?
How about banks and schools, you stay in a long queue for house only for it to reach your turn and a man on suit comes and brings someone from behind to be attended to before you. They say sorry we are on haste, wow so the rest are bunch of lazy and idle people right? Try to talk and you will be amazed how you might either be kicked out or embarrassed.
I wish I could continue on that area but that would get me completely out of the questions of the contest so now that you understood where I am headed, let's begin the main thing.
I witnessed this
I have seen many cases where the rights of people where encroached , some which lead to death, I wish I can talk about them all but I don't have all the time in the world to do so and Moreover the topic description said a story hehe.
Some weeks ago, money got missing in our neighbors house, I was privileged to be there when the trial was taking place. The father narrated that he kept the money on the table that Morning before he went to work, only to come back and it was no where to be found.
Actually stealing is something I dispise so much but how he handled the case was what made me angry. He assembled all his children, everyone that was present and asked randomly, who took the money, when he seemed not to get the answer he wanted. He dealt with the three kids mercilessly. After everything he still didn't get the money. The tears on their faces melted my heart. Who knows if they were not the ones that even did the act?
Now what does beating those kids in that manner gained him? Mind you I am not in support of bad acts but do you know that the culprit might just be one person but the others innocent? What happens to them then? Their rights were encroached, the right to freedom from torture and fair hearing was tempered with.
Parents, do you know that sometimes you temper with your kids right? Please forget the fact that you are the head or the helper. They have rights too. I heard of a woman who beat her house help, broke her head and gave her marks with machete in my town. Simply because she heard the young teenager was having affairs with her husband. Isn't that wickedness? Why didn't she kill her husband then for doing such a thing? Infact he is supposed to be arrested instead for child abuse.
That young lady was rushed to the hospital and luckily she survived, the pictures of the girl was taken and posted on Facebook that was were I saw it before I heard it from my mother. According to people the woman was arrested but you know Nigeria, money rules everything. I am sure she won't even go to prison now that she has spoiled that young lady's reputation and also damaged her body , can she make her beautiful again?
Well, at this junction I want us to know that no one is supposed to be above the law, regardless of status. if we want a better world , the change must begin with us. How about punishing yourself as the boss too when you come late😁😁 how about saying sorry to your kids when you are at fault? How about telling your citizens you did wrong by doing so and so and making possible amends? Hehe you want change? Then let it start from you.
