What can be a better lesson than actual experience when it comes to decision making and the ability to select a representative/voice to speak, act or perform for us. I think that criteria is continually watered down these days as more people think the lessons learned from having actual stakes compared to research are comparable.
We increasingly have people in our socio political space who make decisions for us without having any stakes. For them, partaking in the decision making process and the acquisition of power is merely a personal ambition rather than a desire to transform things for better. Of course when you have such people then laws and decisions that are inexplicable will ultimately be passed.
I am increasingly selective of what I hear these days. As much as the right ideas do matter, it is probably as important to see who those ideas are coming from. Yes there is no reason to discriminate against someone that genuinely means well, but there is an increasing deception that people adopt in our socio political and cultural space particularly in their quest for power and influence.
I simply want us to be more weary of those who see influence as the acquisition of Power rather than an opportunity to make their communities better.
