Well it's no longer news that the markets are down and while we are certain of a rebound, there is absolutely no timeframe attached to it. It may not happen this year for all we know, leaving the general feeling of uncertainty for those who aren't used to it.
In the midst of this there is usually a quest for stabilizing ones assets in order to best tackle the price dip. It was part of this reason DeFi was born and became so popular, and also part reason why stable coins have always had organic popularity among the crypto space. Many major projects eventually see the need for a stable coin and either create theirs or form partnerships through DeFi, smart contracts and the likes.
It is highly anticipated that we are going to see a major stable coin tussle in the future over which of the stables will be widely adopted the most. This is because there is an advantage to utilizing stable coins in addition to preventing one's assets from massive declines.
Stable coins in the future are going to be the darlings of trade facilitation at the individual level. We already know crypto to be a great trade enabled, but utilizing stables enables a better store of value and a token which can be planned on in the advent of price fluctuations.
HBD
My point is that competition is going to be fierce due to what stable coins could potentially offer. Don't be too concerned about the UST crash, as we would need stables and general stability to give more credence to the crypto space. The only thing we need to get right is the question of what the fundamentals such stables are built on, so as not to make another UST mistake.
The general attractiveness of these tokens has led to projects using it as lure for investors. Of all the stables we have now, perhaps none is as attractive as HBD which gives a 20% APR as of this moment. HBD being part of the Hive chain is a huge deal as it gives us sufficient confidence in its fundamentals. Taking advantage of the 20% interest is quite the attraction especially with the dips in the overall crypto market.
Personally, even though I look at Hive as the major project and as seriously undervalued, I also try to hold a bit of HBD. The 20% interest didn't hurt that decision and now prices are down it has a psychological effect of 'at least something's up' which am sure people can relate to. The decision should in theory attract more investments in the space and perhaps give people a look at the Hive chain - a Worthwhile investment which is surprisingly being overlooked
