Chapter Twelve
It was just six o'clock in the morning when a phone ringing woke me up,i remembered switching off my phone the previous night so I tapped Michelle to pick up his call . He opened his eyes and checked the phone ringing then he tapped me back that it was my cellphone not his
" Ohh sorry I forget I put it on after we had whatever this morning...............," I said rubbing my face to see who the caller was and I realized it was Tolani I wondered why she would be calling by this time in the morning but I picked up anyway
"Sister Miriam good morning your attention is needed at home mummy just collapsed on her way to the bathroom this morning where are the family hospital,"she said her voice shaking on the phone she was absolutely scared.
I jumped up immediately not caring Michelle was also naked under the blanket I removed it wrapping it around my body to cover myself still on the phone I kept asking Tolani what was the exact matter with her mother but she was saying she was not sure what the cause was yet the doctor and daddy was in his office and he was explaining to daddy , and I assure that I would come over immediately and hung up.
I know it would be a long journey back to ikeja but I had to go, I went to the bathroom and had my bath changed into my clothes there and when I was out Michelle wasn't in the room anymore .
I went to knock on his door and explain the situation on ground to him he felt sorry for me and gave me some cash for transport fee and wished me a safe journey back home hoping my mum gets well soon I thanked him and left immediately.

It's been more than a week now that we resume the second semester and I haven't seen her in class yet I wondered why because she didn't use to skip classes for a very long time like this but I just kept hoping all was well. I don't even know how it was my business that she wasn't attending class yet.
After the long hour lecture , I parked my books and walked out of the class I had my ear piece on listening to music it has always been the best part of me. I was walking alone back to my apartment as usual I was trying to look for my keys inside my bag when I suddenly collided with someone.
My books was all scattered on the ground I was annoyed but didn't show it cuz the lady was down picking them already she stood up and handed them to me saying sorry for what seems the 10th time as she handed them over I got too surprised to see who it was the object of my thoughts.
Finally I took the books from her and managed to say it was fine since it was just a mistake moreover I wasn't looking too, she thanked me and walked away but I noticed her face was looking very pale I wondered if she was ok she looked like someone who might collapse anytime soon but then it was none of my business so I walked away.
Finally in my apartment laying on my bed my mind kept wondering why the lady looks so pale but then my head kept telling me it was none of my business until sleep finally took over.

I was home for about 2 weeks before I finally resumed , mum was already getting better all she needed was rest when I left. I just got back was arranging a few things inside my room when I heard my cell phone ringing I walked close peered to see who it was and then I picked up
"Hey watup how you doing," Michelle said at the other end,"
"Am fine dear just tired you know it's hasn't been easy on me,"
" Yeah I understand dear hope she's much better now,"he asked,
"Yea very much before I left,"
"Good then maybe i will see you tomorrow you should also have a good rest," he said,
"Of course I would thanks darling," I said finally ending the call.
I had a cold bath after done arranging and slept off just like a baby I was extremely tired.
It's been three weeks now and mum was much better at home , Michelle and I was walking our way home towards the school gates we were discussing about something that happened earlier the day at school and we were almost out when I suddenly felt too weak to move.
I haven't been myself for the past few days I realized I was having a bad headache I held my head.
"Babe are you alright,"Michelle asked seeing the look on my face and the way I held my forehead.
"I think am having a bad headache and am kind of seeing things in double," I replied weakly.
"Would you like to sit for a while,"he said showing deep concern.
"Never mind I think I can manage,"I was trying to move but my leg didn't give away I could feel my strength fading away my head swept back and my body going down and all of a sudden everything around me went blank I could not feel anything anymore.
I opened my eyes trying to sense where I was but I could not really recollect what happened earlier I was still feeling the headache and I tried standing up when I saw Mitchell approaching telling me to be careful.
"Babe you should rest i think you are still weak from the stress about weeks ago they took some samples sha they are going to run a test in other to know what's really wrong," he explained.
"Ohh thanks Michelle i really appreciate,"I said
"C' mon babe what are friends for anyway you don't have to," he say waving off my words.
It was late in the evening when I finally left the school clinic feeling much better than earlier I was to come for the test results the second day and they advised me to get a lot of rest that I could skip classes a day or two to do that.
Mitchell was by my side caring for me like I was really that sick he made dinner for me and made me eat,take some medications and even waited up until i had shower laid on my bed and slept off before he finally left.
I decided to rest the second day so I didn't attend classes with the mind of going back to the school clinic to get the test result. Although it would not be more than just a mere malaria or not getting enough rest from the few weeks ago stress but then I still went and when I finally got the result i received the greatest shock of my life, immediately wishing i never came for the result. What am i suppose to do next? The result was the last thing on my mind .
