Anyone that reads my posts will know that I often joke about how bad my memory has become in the last while. It's not really a laughing matter at all to be honest, but I make fun of myself because it's better than the alternative.
While I can't do all that much about my shitty memory of what I ate for dinner or where I put my car keys (again), I decided it was time to tackled memory that I can do something about. My phone is almost always running on low memory, no matter how few apps I have on it and my SLR was in a similar boat. I normally shoot on Raw + Jpeg and I don't actually know why these days because there's no real reason for me to have pictures that are 40MB large. I don't intend on blowing any of them up for billboards any time soon. I put it on that setting years ago and I haven't bothered to change it.
A change is as good as a holiday apparently, so I embarked on that. Trust me, I would have preferred the holiday but this will have to suffice.
The tiny little 4GB card I had in there was maxed at 112 photos on those settings and when you're in a nice place and you run out of space, it's beyond infuriating having to go back through photos you just took to see which ones you could delete so you can take more only to repeat the process.
This card bundle that I found on discount adds a whole new dimension to photography and on Raw + Jpeg I could take 990 photos. Now that I've changed the settings to only shoot Jpeg, I have no idea how many photos can actually fit on there as the LCD screen only has space for 3 numbers and it just says 999.
It will be interesting to see if changing to Jpeg only will make a huge difference in post editing in Lightroom, I haven't tried it yet. At least now I have more memory in there. I just hope I don't forget where I put my camera.
I'm putting this in Rant/Complain/Talk because I was going to complain about the high annoyance factor before I did this, but...I forgot.
