With blogs and Steemit giving people a chance to spread their messages and making some money while doing it I thought it would be a good idea to post some tips to help your articles become more attractive for people to read and interact with.

Before you even begin to write an article it is important to know how to write a good one. You probably already have several ideas for articles, but without a structure and some thought on implementing the advices below you can end up writing a long, boring, and confusing piece.

Choose a niche

There are millions of blogs on the internet and the number is growing exponentially every day.

To make your readers interested in your content, write about something that is in demand and that you know more about than others. It is not about being an expert, but rather having more knowledge on the subject then regular people.

Set a timetable

Planning your publications will give you extra peace of mind and room to breathe.
It is important to pace yourself. Since writing is a creative endeavour you can not push yourself to deliver great articles constantly. Set some deadlines and specific days for publications. This will not only help you not getting stressed out, but publishing on the same days will set a habit and expectation for your readers and they will get used to stopping by your blog on certain time/day. This is important in growing your audience and keeping them interested.

Structure your posts

Having a structure in your article will help people stay focused. To make your reading more pleasant, make short paragraphs and follow this scheme:

Start with an introductory paragraph in which you introduce the topic you are going to discuss.

Continue with some central paragraphs with the body of information, organized so that reading the titles and subtitles, the reader can get an idea about the topic of the article.

Make a final paragraph in which you summarize everything to remind the reader what the essence of the article was about.

This is a good formula to write some good and easy readable articles and helps the user consume and remember the contents.

Write using the KISS rule

No, no hanky panky here, this stands for Keep It Simple Stupid. Try and not use too many words to describe the same thing. Sometimes you can even use an image to describe something that would have taken a whole paragraph to do. Avoid going on repeating rants as this will bore your audience.

If you report something, do it accurately

The Internet is full of speculation and rumors, so before publishing information, investigate it. It can be very good to publish a news article that could go viral, but make sure that the data is correct first.

Look for legitimate sources of information and link to the sources that collaborates what you write about. This will increase the trust readers have in you and help your reputation.
And if you promote something, be honest and sincere about it.

Treat your readers with lots of affection

I do not know any entrepreneur who does not care if anyone read his/hers article or not.
Why publish articles if you know that nobody is going to read them? It does not make any sense.

If you have 20 readers or 20,000 readers a day, value the time they spend on your blog. You can use Google Analytics (if you are running a blog, for Steemit you can look at the votes and activity on your articles) to see which articles are the most visited and write more good articles on the most popular topics.

Use the comments to continue a conversation

If someone leaves a comment, respond immediately. Comments are an excellent way to communicate with your audience and make them feel important. In the long run you will gain influence with this. They can also help you to:

• Get ideas for future articles that interest your audience.
• Know your readers better
• Narrow the relationship with your potential customers.
• Generate engagement

Write about current issues

We live in a world that changes very quickly and every second there are news. If you can not think of a good article for your blog or missing inspiration, you can check current issues and events that are related to your niche to get inspired or publish some news using your own words and opinions.

 

Visit other blogs for inspiration

Probably, every minute of the day there is someone in the world who decides to start a blog.

Keeping the design updated to the trends and evolve with our blog is something fundamental to not stay in the past. Look at the plugins and designs of other blogs and keep what you like most about each one to apply it to yours.

If you see that most of the blogs in your niche are talking about a particular topic, you can write an article with your own style and thus enter that roll with a different point of view, which is what makes you unique.
