Hey Y'all,
Recently I took a break from painting my normal portraits and landscapes to test some different brushes and allow myself a mental vacation of sorts.
Sometimes it can be fun to let the mind wander and create without any concern for following all the rules about shadow, light, form, or realism.
Because we're on the cusp of winter in the western hemisphere right now, I was also feeling something to acknowledge seasonal change was appropriate to portray.
Each piece represents a particular season, using shapes and colors that symbolize something to do with that specific time of year. Part 2 represents winter, and part 3 is Rejoice for spring.
This piece symbolizes the feelings of relief and happiness associated with springtime. In spring the natural world comes alive again. Suddenly leaves, flowers and animals reappear where there was (seemingly) nothing in the dead of winter. Pink and orange represent cheerfulness and optimism for great things ahead - winter is far away on the calendar and in the mind.
There are a dizzying array of new colors, scents and textures in spring. This season reminds us that there is a time to enjoy life's opportunities and let our colors shine.
