The rain represents hope. It is a reminder that even after a long period of dryness, change can come, and what feels like it has lasted forever can eventually pass. The contrast between the dry land and the falling rain speaks to the tension between what we are experiencing now and what we continue to hope for.
The figure’s strong expression carries the weight of that long season, the exhaustion, patience, and quiet strength required to keep going while waiting for things to change.
I created this work for anyone who has experienced, or is currently experiencing, a difficult season. Sometimes, all we have is hope and sometimes, hope is enough to keep us waiting for the rain.
