Hello, friends of @holos-lotus.
I am very pleased to participate in this new initiative from The Other Shore, and I come with a new perspective on what we keep quiet. It's not that I disagree with what the participants have presented so far, but rather I am here to complement what they have explained, but from a new perspective.
Normally, we talk about the harm caused by silencing everything bad, negative, violent, and similar emotions. We have made it clear throughout this initiative that it causes physical and psychological harm.
However, no one has talked about how damaging it can be to keep quiet about positive feelings and emotions.
I think it's essential that we tell ourselves every day how much we love ourselves, how good we are, and that we will succeed in everything we set out to do.
It seems pointless, but it makes perfect sense.
And I don't mean standing in front of the mirror and telling ourselves all that. I mean believing it and being the first to know it. We must learn to love ourselves, with our strengths and weaknesses. If we don't love ourselves, no one else will, and vice versa.
Every minute we spend with our children, with our loved ones, is an opportunity to tell them we love them; to make it clear to our children that we are very proud of them, of the good men and women they are becoming.
It seems criminal to let these moments, these opportunities, pass us by.
Unfortunately, life is unpredictable, and we never know when the last time we'll see a loved one will be. History is full of people who, by not sharing their feelings with others, have later regretted it.
My husband taught me this; he wakes me up every day with a kiss and tells me he loves me. At first, such a display of affection seemed strange and exaggerated, but then I understood.
And he's right.
We also need to tell our friends and all our colleagues how we feel. Who better than to tell our colleagues that they've done a good job, that we're happy and proud to work alongside them?
Why not tell a guitarist that they played well, that I enjoyed their performance?
Our friends are a new family by choice, and therefore, we should also tell them how we feel.
Our loved ones may know how we feel about them, and you might think it's unnecessary to tell them, but who doesn't like to hear it? Why deny ourselves the good moment of seeing their face when we hear it?
If by any chance we are unable to tell a loved one how we feel, then regret and pain will set in. We will begin to question ourselves and why we didn't do it, and possibly punish ourselves for it.
Regret and guilt can be just as dangerous and damaging to our psyche and body as keeping all that pent-up anger to ourselves.
However, joy, love, and other positive emotions and feelings only do us good.
It is said that too much of everything is bad, but that is not the case. Happiness, too much happiness, will never be bad.
As @roswelborges says, smile and be happy. Don't keep quiet about what you feel and express it.
I love you.
