Good day everyone, welcome to my blog.
When I was a child, Christmas started in early December when our Christmas clothes were usually bought. We practically have sleepless nights from the first week of December because we are literally counting down to Christmas day as we would not be able to wait to rock our oversized dress.

We sweep, clean and decorate the house with Christmas ornaments and lights a week or two before Christmas and we make our hair a week or few days too. Hair making was one of the most unbearable experience I usually had during this period but I had to endure the torture and burn from the locally made relaxers we called PANBOLABOLA we use to relax our hair.
After the retouching comes the hair making itself with these hair extensions that we call Amingo attachment. I had two hair styles I usually make which were either telephone wire or shaba. Once our hair is made, Christmas is sixty percent done. Mother would cook as early as possible on Christmas day and we all would have breakfast of rice and one big portion of chicken for each of us.
Immediately we finished eating then the business aspect of Christmas would be fully activated. We would take food to people around the neighborhood and they would give us some token we call Owo Odun(Christmas gifts) after food sharing, we would retouch our dressing then go out in pairs to visit our family and friends eating, drinking and collecting Owo Odun from everyone we visited.

I prefer Christmas the way it was then to now because then all members of each extended family get to travel down to celebrate together but that culture is somehow going into extinction. If I could relieve my Christmas experience, I would save all the money I was gifted when I was younger for the future. Who knows what, it would have been useful for me now but unfortunately, that is not possible.
