British Queen Elizabeth II has the perfection of the art of symbolism and non-verbal communication. When she is silent, she says the most. That's why her yesterday's speech to the Parliament in London will be remembered mostly by the "European" blue dress and the hat, instead of a crown decorated with small yellow flowers, just as an EU flag. The queen could hardly find a more sophisticated way of telling Brussels without words: Here, we leave, but we want to stay friends.
In fact, what the "queen" was saying was a hotly controversial topic. Some say Elizabeth II has disagreed with those 52% of her subjects who backed the EU exit referendum - something like a silent rebellion against Brexit and the Conservatives. Others insist that the Queen has ironized Brussels by dressing her purposely blue dress the day she has to present the divorce program with him.
Elizabeth II usually wears white, pale yellow or coral pink when she visits parliament or different political forums. Now she stood even brighter.
- Put a strong political symbol in a dress - invaluable
The queen refrains from commenting and assessing topical political issues, which is why her traditional speech to MPs is an event that is expected to be of great interest. And she has fulfilled her further commitment as a monarch - without Glumic words and populism, but has endorsed and consistently set out the most important priorities that the government in London will pursue during the EU's exit talks.
They have already begun in Brussels, and on the island all want the "best deal". This means a lot of things - restrictions on migration, Scotland's retention in the United Kingdom, change in legislation, greater security and other priorities. Unlike Prime Minister Teresa May, who is also ready for a "divorce" without an agreement, the Queen does not use a single word and once again puts her dress up to talk. - Not the words, but the deeds
After World War II, Elizabeth II began to wear bright colors, trying to raise the spirit of the nation, but just like ordinary people, she bought coupons and even paid her wedding dress. In 1965, the Queen arrived in Germany and literally bears a friendly gesture - a turquoise silk organza dress with embroidery borrowed from the interior of the Brühl Palace, known as the German Versailles.
Over the years, she met Ronald Reagan and key world leaders in yellow dresses, and in 2003 she personally rides Saudi sheikhs in one of her favorite cars - an obvious reference to women's rights and their ban on driving in the Arab country.
In 2008, at the height of the global financial crisis, the British Queen visited Slovenia with a "budget dress" sewn from a fabric that received as a gift 20 years ago during a tour in the Middle East. At the opening of the London Olympics in 2012, she chose a sophisticated pink suit so as not to favor the national colors of any country.
The clothes in the Queen's wardrobe are not everybody's taste, but they are definitely painted to the smallest detail. Nothing in this aristocratic collection is a coincidence - classical 5-inch heels, skirt always under the knee, pearl necklaces, hats with a small waistline, highlighting the shape of the face, white gloves and a small rectangular bag. If it is raining it is obligatory to wear a transparent umbrella.
Elizabeth II cultivates an elegant style as a princess in order to leave a mark not only in the history of the British monarchy, it already holds the record for the longest stay of the throne. It is believed that the royal person has inspired generations of politicians, ranging from the rectangular "iron" bag, blue suits and brooches by Margaret Thatcher, to Angel Merkel's colorful jackets. Elizabeth II revolutionized the formal dress and turned clothes into a clever means of communication.
