Hello ladies of hive community!
This is my response to this week's @ladiesofhive/ladies-of-hive-community-contest-310

I will be answering the first question which says;
1️⃣ If ever the Ladies of Hive community organize a lavish Masquerade meetup, what historical figure, accomplished author/artist, or fictional character will you dress as to attend this imaginary event, and why?

I read an article some times ago, and it talked about Queen Amina of Zaria.
So, when I saw the topic for this week's contest, I quickly imagined myself in a female warrior costume.

Someone might be tempted to ask, what is it about 'This Queen Amina'?

Well,She was one of the African's legendary and ruthless female warriors from the northern part of Nigeria,who had achieved so much before she died in a war.
After reading about all what she achieved while ruling. I must say that she was such a brave woman.

Why would I want to dress like her?

Well, I'd dress like her not with the intention of good for a war, but to reverence a brave woman who led thousands of men to war and won.I still feel that her history isn't told enough to the younger generations, because the part of Nigeria she came from believes so much in child marriage. She became a queen at the age of 16.

Infact, history has it that she wasn't interested in marriage, she made sure that she killed any man she ever allowed into her bed the following morning.That's how ruthless she was.

In a society where women were seen as weak, She wielded such power. To me, she defeated patriachy. She showed that Leadership has to nothing to do with gender, but everything to do with courage.

Thanks for stopping by!
