We visited the Upside Down House in Bournemouth today, and what a funny experience it was! Even walking up to it was odd.
The chap on the door told us we might feel a bit disorientated. As soon as you enter the house it feels weird, but in a funny way.
The house is all open plan and the decor is brightly coloured. Look up and you will find all the furniture on the ceiling.
Upstairs in one of the bedrooms, it was a great photo opportunity to get your friend to do something silly!
Of course, I had to get in on the act. I seem to have drawn the short straw putting my head down the loo. (Photo taken by my friend).
The organiser's wanted to stay another 2 years, but in their wisdom, Bournemouth Council turned the application down stating the house is so big it blocks the view of the Pavilion, which isn't the most attractive of buildings.
Visiting today, I didn't see what the issue was really. It's a shame, as it is quite a popular tourist attraction and brings people into the town. At least it is here until the end of the year.
I'm pleased I managed to see it as it was fun and a good laugh. Well worth the 拢4.95 entrance fee, although between 11 am - 12 noon it was half price so even better!
