It was quite overcast this morning but still quite mild. I decided to go for a walk at a local reservoir. I parked up at the church where there is free parking. I entered the church yard under the covered gateway, called a lychgate.
This church is quite unusual as the clock face has 63 minutes on the dial. Nobody knows why this is but rumour has it that the clock painter took a lunch break at the pub across the road! Did he have too much to drink? Nobody knows.
Walking through the graveyard I then climbed over the stone stile and followed the footpath.
The footpath led me to an old cart track where it was downhill all the way. It was very wet and muddy underfoot.
The sheep weren't too interested in this strange woman walking past them.
I finally got down to one of the three reservoirs. The water was covered in autumn leaves.
I quickly walked down to this footpath to take this photo and then I double backed to walk up to higher ground.
I continued walking through the wooded area until I passed the reservoir once again.
I don't think I will ever tire of seeing how colourful the woods are in autumn.
A nice bit of wood art ...
It was time to make my way back up the hill. I wasn't looking forward to it but it turned out not to be as steep as I thought. It was an enjoyable walk.
Just before I got to my car I spotted this lovely fruit. No idea what it was, but google lens told me the tree is Arbutus Marina, commonly known as a strawberry tree.
