We drove to Rufford today, which is in the next county to me. I'd seen some posts online about a poppy field in full bloom. You usually see them in June, July and occasionally running into August.

There's one thing about looking for a poppy field .... you can see it from a mile away. I have no sense of direction so it helps when there's a sea of red in the distance.

We dived straight in making sure we stuck to the footpaths, so we didn't trample on any of the flowers. I took a few photos while I was sat down to get some underneath shots. The only problem was, when you get to a certain age it's difficult to get back up! My brother was at the top end of the field engulfed in poppies somewhere. I was stuck on the floor that long, I regretted not making any sandwiches before I came out. A picnic would have been nice. When life hands you lemons, make lemonade, as they say. Anyway, I did finally manage to heave my body upright. I won't be doing that again in a hurry.

We spent a couple of hours in the field (mostly stuck on the ground). It was a lovely scene and wonderful to be surrounded by so much beauty.
