It was 6:00 AM and like every day I was there, standing there, waiting for the transport to pass. A small vehicle with only four seats for the passengers, making the trip more comfortable and faster. The morning cold was often unbearable, so this made me wish that the transport would always arrive quickly for me.

Getting on the vehicle, greeting the other passengers and the driver had already become part of my routine, it was amazing the stories you could hear during the trip on the way to the city and also in the evenings, returning home from work. And to my advantage, in the afternoons, whenever I arrived at the bus stop, he was there, parked waiting for me to board.

One morning everything started to become different, there was a new transport in the area and as soon as I got into the car, something in me changed. The smell of that vehicle was different, but not new to me, I had perceived that bad smell before. However, I paid little attention to it, I thought it was just me and continued looking out the window while my trip on that new day began.

Strangely, when I returned home, the same transport was there and the next morning, in the afternoon, I began to travel in the same vehicle, unable to wait for another transport. I usually always sat in the front seat and every time I got on, that strange bad smell was there. It smelled like formaldehyde, with a mixture of humidity, nothing peculiar.

One day I had to return alone in the transport with the driver, it was late and I was the only passenger. The fog was getting thicker and the cold was getting stronger. That bad smell was no longer something I could stand and the driver kept coughing as he did every day during the trip. I couldn't stand it any longer and taking advantage of being alone with him, I asked him if he was feeling well or if something was wrong.

When he spoke to me that dead smell was more intense and although he told me he was fine and that it was a simple cough, I saw and felt something beyond his words. Between my fear and the horror I could feel every time I got into that vehicle (since I had few options to change transportation), I told the driver to take care of himself and go to the doctor. He promised to do so, but days went by and that smell in him only grew more intense.

A new day, once again I was there waiting for the morning transport that would take me to the city, but how strange! It was the same car, with a different driver and that unpleasant smell had disappeared. I was afraid and at the same time I felt calm, after many days of anxiety and horror. I didn't ask any questions, I just listened to the stories told by the other passengers during the trip.

When I arrived at my destination, the carriers were gathered and this caught my attention. I approached and then I heard them talking about that driver who smelled of formaldehyde and that was when I understood that that man had reached the end of his road, that I always knew it and although I tried to warn him, his destiny was already mapped out.
