Like every human being I also have insecurities and I don't like to talk about them with other people because it gives me a little bit of shame but today I changed my mind and decided it's a good day to share with you those physical insecurities that have always affected me throughout my life, generating a roller coaster in my self-esteem, so I invite you to stay until the end of the post to fully enjoy the content,so I invite you to stay until the end of the post to fully enjoy the content.
My two biggest insecurities are my short stature and my skin color, which I will detail in depth below:
Baja estatura/Short stature
Since I was in elementary school I knew that my height was not going to be average, I remember that at that time everyone was taller than me, with a big difference of centimeters, it bothered me enormously not to look as big as my classmates and not to mention the typical nicknames "dwarf" "smurf" "Minion" "bump on the floor" ect (the latter now that I think about it is funny but for people who suffer from low self-esteem such comments are quite unpleasant no matter how "insignificant" they are). I also hated being the center of attention for being the smallest, I felt that all eyes were directed to me, not to praise but to criticize me and make fun of how short I was, well I am hehehehehehe (situations that most of the time we create in our minds and probably far from reality) and well the truth is that I never liked to stand out from the crowd.
This tormented me for years but lately I have worked a lot on my self-esteem and self-esteem, now I am 19 years old and I am 1.50m (a little short of the average height) in previous years it affected me a lot to be told that I look physically 14, again I wanted to appear to be bigger but little by little I learned to accept myself as I am, and be happy when I am calculated less age because it is synonymous with eternal youth, no? or at least now with a positive mind I see it from that point of view.
Mi color de piel/My skin color
I know that skin color is very controversial but it has also been one of my biggest complexes, I have a dark complexion and since I was a little girl I have been attracted to light skins, when I was a teenager I thought that because you were white your physical appearance was immediately extraordinary, that is to say I related white complexion with beauty, that is why being brown skinned I felt inferior and less beautiful physically than people who were white, a quite retrograde thought to live in the XXI century.
It is a complex that has not yet been completely rooted in me but as I mentioned in the previous paragraph I have learned to love myself as I am with my dark skin and my short stature because they are characteristics that are part of my being. Finally I want to emphasize that perhaps one of the reasons for the complexes we have regarding our physique are due to the stereotypes so marked that currently exist in society and social networks, thus imposing the physical characteristics that you must have to meet that "ideal model of beauty".
