In this post, I would like to bring the goddess Europa a little closer, which is also known as the Phoenician princess and according to a legend, Zeus fell in love with Europa and so that his wife Hera did not notice this, he turned he turned into a bull in order to be able to spend time with her undisturbed. Since Europa was considered very animal-friendly, he knew that he could approach her in this form and finally Zeus kidnapped her and brought her to the island of Crete and fathered several children. After a few days, Zeus transformed back into his actual form and Europe then fell in love with him and to be able to live on the island in peace he asked the god of the blacksmiths Hephaestus to create a weapon for him and he created Talos which ensured that everyone who approached the island was thrown off with stones. Later, the then still unknown continent was also named after her and in old works Europa is therefore usually depicted with a bull and is often presented on vases, paintings, coins or other works of art and most traditions go back to the writers Herodotus, Ovid and Homer.
