Good day dear Hive community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my contribution and hope you had a day full of positive experiences! Today I decided to bring a mineral a little closer and hope you can learn something new.
Here you can see a variety of garnet which is also known under the name demantoid and it was found for the first time in the 19th century in Russia and named by the geologist Dr. Nordenskjöld. Typically, the mineral is known for the light or dark green color and it is considered the rarest mineral from the garnet group and it is particularly interesting after for the production of jewelry and due to the rarity there are many counterfeits on the market and typical properties are the strong refraction of light and the intense shine of the mineral. The rarest specimens come from the Ural Mountains and other important places of disocvery are Africa in Namibia and Madagascar, Switzerland, USA, Argentina or Italy and it is metamorphic rock but can also sometimes be traced back to magmatic origin. Sometimes demantoid is also sold because of the mystical or healing properties and as a healing stone it can help to improve the mood or the skin appearance and in addition it can have a positive influence on the hormones and open the third eye or have a strengthening effect on the immune system in general. As always, you should know that this is alternative medicine and in case of illness, you should always ask your doctor or pharmacist about the correct use and possible side effects!
Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about this interesting topic! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens!
