Occasionally it’s about admitting
Hard truths
Uncomfortable realities
Like they weren’t strong enough
It’s not your fault
It’s not your failing that demons chase you
You’ve fought hard
You’ve battled those monsters every day
You were honest
You were forthright about those creatures stalking you
They said it was fine
They said it was okay until suddenly it wasn’t
Suddenly
Abruptly they had to face those monsters
All their words
All their platitudes turned to dust
You warned them
You cautioned them to be afraid
They promised
They vowed they wouldn’t run
Then they ran
Then they fled when the dragons awoke
When
When the beast looked their way
