This is another common ant that I usually found during my macro photo hunt. especially around my workplace or at my parent's home where there are still a lot of big trees around.
They are the Oecophylla smaragdina or common names include Asian weaver ant, weaver ant, green ant, green tree ant, semut rangrang, semut kerangga, and orange gaste. They get the name because of the way they build the house or nest by stitching or weaving leaves of the tree they live in.
I took the photos in this post in several different times and places around my workplace and also around my parent's house. They have a nice orange to red color on their body.
They have very powerful bites, and if you see them at the bottom of the tree you wish to climb, you better think twice before even trying to go up. Just like any other ants that usually live in the colony, once you disturb them and the nest, you will be attacked by their fierce and powerful warrior. So beware always.
