If you are an Ecency user, I’m sure you’ve noticed the email subscription feature on the posts you read.
It is a new feature from Ecency that allows someone (a subscriber) to read your posts directly via email. Essentially, this feature gives you your own email list without needing to use a third-party service.
You can use it simply by having a Hive account and the Ecency app. The best part is that using this feature is completely free. Of course, there are additional features available if you are an Ecency Pro user.

However, I’m thinking about something else: various ways to generate new revenue streams using this creator newsletter feature, such as:
If you possess expertise in a specific field, this is a golden opportunity to market your services. A reader subscribed to your newsletter might not yet be aware of the services you offer. Including a mention—perhaps in the email footer or a dedicated promotional paragraph at the end—creates a new promotional channel for you.
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but so far, I haven't come across posts containing affiliate links for products or services. It could be that I simply haven't found them, or perhaps they don't exist at all.
Or maybe posts containing affiliate links have been muted by others.
As far as I know, Hive is a blogging platform. It is perfectly natural for people to promote affiliate offers, provided it is done reasonably and without spamming.
The email list feature certainly opens up opportunities for direct promotion to your subscribers. Naturally, you must also be transparent about the fact that you earn a fee if someone makes a purchase through that link.
You can offer cross-promotion services to introduce other Hive users' accounts to your subscribers, encouraging them to subscribe to those users as well. You can charge a fee for this service or offer it for free on a reciprocal basis (where the user you promote also promotes your account to their email list).
Of course, you can fully capitalize on these opportunities once you have built a substantial number of subscribers on your email list.
Whether Ecency's Creator Newsletter will truly become a new source of income for authors depends on how creators choose to use it. The feature itself doesn't generate revenue automatically, but it provides something even more valuable: direct access to an audience that has voluntarily subscribed to your content.
That connection opens the door to opportunities such as promoting services, recommending affiliate products, selling digital goods, or collaborating with other Hive creators. As the subscriber base grows, so does the potential value of the newsletter. In other words, Ecency isn't just introducing another way to distribute posts—it may be laying the foundation for a creator economy where authors can build sustainable income beyond post rewards.
