I hate hospitals, the buildings, smell of drugs, blood injection and rude nurses and doctors. Top of it all I hate been sick. I try as much as possible to stay healthy but in life we all have our flaws. When it comes to medical sector in Nigeria especially in the North, it is 75% dissapointing for a mere citizen.
This event happened last year, August 2021. I was down with malaria, I went to the pharmacy to get some anti-Malaria drugs and I changed my routine of water intake, I thought the malaria was caused from stress and sleepless night because that very month, a task was given to me that I had to complete, I worked day and nights to achieve a perfect goal.
I took the drugs, hoping it'll work perfectly after having some rest. So dissapointing, my condition grew worst. It was so late, 8:30pm in the evening, I had no choice than to go to the nearest hospital. I called my friend who was familiar with the environment to help us with the location to the nearest hospital that functions perfectly. Murtala Muhammad specialist hospital was the closest 25-30mins drive.
I surmoned strength, picked my ID and ATM cards and went. I got there met the doctor and explained what was wrong with me, he prescribed drugs for me and asked me to come back. Getting to the hospital pharmacy, I gave them the doctor's note. Unfortunately I was told they only accept cash only as payment. I was so discouraged and sad, no ATM around, banks were closed. I tried talking to the cashiers, trying to explain my condition. I left without the drugs, went home and came back the next day.
THE SCARY MOMENT.
With my condition, I went back to the hospital in morning, I met a lot of people so i had to wait for my turn. This red car drove in, a lot of nurses was rushing to and fro, everybody around me was curious, trying to figure out the commotion. I managed to get to the cashier, got my drugs and paid. As I was moving to the drive-way, heading to the doctor's office. I noticed the red car, all doors was opened. I saw three dead body of little kids age of 14-16years, bullet holes on their body and blood all over the care. I was so scared. I manage to get to the doctor's office, met a different person, I was told to move to the other building where I'll find nurse because he couldn't attend to me. On getting to the waiting room. I saw this Black, fat and tall man on the floor, soaked on his blood, blood was all over the floor, I couldn't see the cause of the bleeding but the bleeding keeps getting much. Nurses were mopping the floor but this blood keeps coming and coming. I was so scared and couldn't wait, I just took my drugs and left.
Due to what I saw, I was so relieved a little bit and the things I saw keeps reappearing in my mind, a clear HD view. It became more scary, It made me realized humans are going through worst than we can ever imagine, well it made me to learn to be grateful even in the smallest of things.
