"What is this place?"
"I have no idea what's the point of smelling this way"
"Except maybe to try to attract some prey"
Everyone found their own reasons for saying this, but noone could come up with any explanation that made any sense. Thinking over the whole concept of this place was unprofitable, for everybody had at least several points to consider, but afterwards came up with almost none.
"I wonder if it's a trap after all"
"Why would you say that?"
"I don't know, it just feels like that."
At that moment, the raven saw a glimpse of light, which led it to thinking that only a few meters away from them, some people must have been looking behind closed doors, or there were some light at least in that direction. The raven let himself be carried by the wind, bringing its sight to the direction of the light, until realizing that there was something beyond the most illuminated area.
"Over there... The oddest of all... what is it?"
The raven flew over the place, and in fact it was the most inconceivable thing that it could even imagine to be. Only the most skilled did their profession of being a thief for their whole life time, without ever seeing such a thing.
"What is it, little friend?"
"A squirrel?"
"It is not a squirrel. It is much smaller than that."
"Also it doesn't have such long feet."
"It's a robot."
The man had deduced the nature of that thing. But almost noone heeded to his assertion. The animal had offered them another unexplainable fact.
"Do you know of any animal that would serve as a frontal part to a mechanical contraption like that?"
Some of the ravens began to feel an instinctive fear of the place. But it wasn't affecting them too much. Of course, they were birds that had the nature to be scared of just about anything, but not excessively, and mostly only when needed.
"We will have to try to enter it... but how?"
The ravens circled around that place, and looked in every direction they could think of, but they couldn't find how to get through that thing they had found. There were so many stranges of this world to see that... they didn't even bother about that. But it were the clear thoughts that wouldn't exhaust themselves from thinking about it... yet.
"Anybody got any ideas?"
"No, but I really want to get through there."
They decided to stop asking things to each other, because there were so many things to hear anyway. And they were surrounded by even more sounds. And interrogating each other was only a risk to disrupt that. To make their thoughts exhaust themselves was not an important matter, at least not at this point of the story: for their minds were very busy with things to think.
"What is the use of this thing? What is its purpose?"
"Maybe you're not supposed to get through here, and the purpose of this thing is to keep you out."
"Maybe it's real purpose is to keep people in..."
"I think that if there were anybody inside the armor wouldn't be living here forever. It sounded as if we were talking in the vicinity of death."
Although their thoughts were scattered, they all seemed to agree with each other without even saying it, and that question was no more asked. For they were searching for a solution to their problem.
"Should we wait for somebody to come and get us out?"
"Do you think there exists anyone here to come and get us?"
"I don't think you should let yourself be killed by a mystery here, or by... by... a thing here."
"However. I'm just thinking aloud"
"You also did it in the beginning of our talk."
"I just like it to be saying it like this..." Said the animal.
Through its nose, it then estimated the distance of the thing, and with some math, it managed to calculate the possibility of running across it by taking the time that it would take the others to catch up to it: which the animal considered to be too long. It wouldn't be so specific as to make a precise calculation, calling it an estimation wouldn't make the others believe it. From all that it could be shown the calculation from which came up was correct.
"There they are!"
"Where? How can you be sure"
Everyone looked in any of the direction the animal pointed, but they didn't see anything. They immediately began to move in the opposite direction the animal was pointing, just to be sure that no single step would be taken that would lead them to this strange place. The animal was a very perceptive animal, and its estimate of the direction they were heading was extremely accurate. It was also very good at doing math, but it chose not to reveal its superhuman capabilities that didn't need to be said anyway.
"Don't they see us?"
"Who is it? They have not noticed us. But we are totally in the opposite direction from theirs.
"I must admit that you are right..."
"I think that maybe we should tell them about this place."
"Are you nuts? You know that whoever sees us here will get killed by that enormous thing."
"Don't worry. The animal will take care of them. But what will we do for ourselves? That thing is extremely strong."
"I'm also concerned about that. But what can we do? We have our priorities. We have to get out of here."
"Or we can try to get the others out from that place?"
"And what if he got there before us to do that?"
"But what if he didn't?"
The animals were frantic, they didn't have much time to finalize their plans. They should do something real quick before being caught by the raven.
"Look how fast the other one is rushing here... he's going to catch up to us"
"We only have one thing to go through."
"It's the right choice. But do you think anybody will be able to get through it?"
"I'm pretty sure about that"
