I don't do Christmas Carols, and I am sorry about that. I really enjoyed watching other people doing Christmas songs, we had plenty of good artists on HIVE, it sets the tone perfectly!
For people having guests during this season, you'll be doing a lot of sweeping. I think it's my way of contributing to the Christmas spirit!
It's a song about sweeping yes, don't ask me why I wrote it, I guess it was in South Africa, or maybe I started it in France, but as I've been doing my fair load of sweeping throughout the years here and there, I guess the song isn't really about sweeping, but more about the meaning behind it, the symbolism. It's about classes, and people working in the shadows, unbothered.
If you don't understand what I am saying, just relax and listen to the studio version:
Now I am sure you're wondering, "great, but why should I listen to your live version, the studio version is just fine", and I would tell you that my stairs, are glowing throughout the entire song, it's beautiful, and might put you to sleep after that heavy turkey you've just ingested whole.
For those that are still on the fence, I think what's important to remember, is that I am stalling. I am stalling because I noticed that if I need people to pay attention on the post, there needs to be a certain amount of words, I wonder if anyone is reading the middle. Does it matter?
Certainly not Sir-Madam, but the last thing you want, is the thing that you worked on the entire weekend, just flopping like a bad soufflé, so you have to play the games of word, and let me tell you something, I am really great at just continuously speaking, some might call it verbal diarrhea, I would call it opening the tap linked to the infinite stream of thoughts, which everything ends and originates from.
Speaking of diarrhea, don't miss out on "The Vent Gleet Show", it's really the place you want to be if you're into hens, and other things as well.
Speaking of which, I had to redo the thumbnail a few times, because I couldn't get the name correctly, blame it on the eggnog.
The sore throat is completely healed, thanks for asking, so it means this week, it might be the week to record the dreaded "This Woman's Work", the ultimate falsetto challenge.
There are songs that are a bit scary, just a lot expectations.
I've never had that problem with my own songs, maybe because there are no expectations haha.
For the musical inspiration, it's really close to the classic Motown songs, Soul music at its best.
The studio arrangements have a bass, drums, guitar, keys, and the trumpetist Marcus Wyatt as a soloist, really great musician.
In that live performance, I tried to beatbox a little bit in the intro, but nothing too fancy, I wanted to keep the rhythm going.
Oh, I forgot the lyrics:
Move on move on
I am always on the run
Clean up all your mess when you're having fun
I am the sweeperman, sweeperman, sweeperman
I am the sweeperman, sweeperman, sweeperman
I am a silent bounty hunter
Who kills the dust
When you have too much tequila, that's the worst
I am the sweeperman, sweeperman, sweeperman
I am the sweeperman, sweeperman, sweeperman
You can have a rest
Keep on dancing
In a second you'll forget me on the dancefloor sweeping
Sometimes I make a move, the two and four in the groove
Mystifying my ordinary everyday life boring duty
I am the sweeperman, sweeperman, sweeperman
I am the sweeperman, sweeperman, sweeperman
Everything is easy when I start scratching all the dirt stuck
On the floor
Everything is easy when I start scratching all the dirt stuck
On the floor
(Move on move on I got job on the run, cleaning all your mess when you're having fun)
I am the sweeperman, sweeperman, sweeperman
I am the sweeperman, sweeperman, sweeperman
