When I spotted the name of this restaurant i had a fairly good idea of what to expect, and for sure i knew that a burger would be on the cards. I arrived just a few minutes short of closing time after attending a free meditation class that was nearby. I thought it was a perfect opportunity to try this restaurant out and see if they were able to stun and amaze me with their 'junk 'food'. I think its true of any type of diet that it does not always have to be super healthy and good for us. Just because a dish may be made from plant based ingredients does not mean to say it has to be good for us! There is a big difference between organic raw salads and deep fried food in old stale oil for example. I could eat french fries all day long and claim to be vegan, but that would not be healthy or advisable way to live!

I was promptly given the menu to peruse and as always had a tough time choosing between so many mouth watering dishes. IT seems to be normal in Thailand to show pictures of each dish in the menu which is something that i really appreciate and makes it so much easier to know what to expect when it arrives. The only country that takes this to the next level is Japan who often create exact replicas of the dishes in a kind of plastic that they display in the windows of the restaurant. That is next level and probably not appropriate for a vegan junkie establishment!

The menu was a junk foodies dream really as they had all the kind of dishes you would want to see in a typical USA type diner, including our all time favourites such as loaded fries, mac & cheese, onion rings, and of course our all time favourites of burgers and pizza! Of course i chose the burger, and also ordered a falafel with hummus. I stopped myself there but could have easily ordered the pizza just out of interest. I have realised that my waist line is rapidly increasing since i came to Thailand which was not at all my intentions when i first came. I can see i will be having to eat a lot less once i get back home!

The falafel came first, with a LOAD of salad under the balls and a small amount of tahini drizzled on top. Since i am a total hummus freak i must say i was a bit disappointed at the lack of this creamy delight, but i was also happy to have so much salad as i have missed eating salads lately.

Overall i would say the dish was just about OK but really not a falafel by any stretch of the imagination. I would call it a falafel salad really, i barely even noticed the hummus as it was so spare.. Also the falafel balls weren’t even crispy which is a total shame.. Not impressed today, im not sure if this is standard or whether it was because i arrived to late in the day. Oh well, we can't have it all every time can we! If i had to rate it I would give it 2/5.

The vegan burger arrived next, with a huge onion ring and some fake bacon hanging out the sides.. mmmmm. It did look better than a fast food burger such as maccy D, but it also looked a bit like it was slapped together. This burger was OK, again not nearly as good as i have had in Vegan Heaven or the Vegan Table, but it was a respectable burger nonetheless.

The patty was not the best, but the combination of all the other bits made up for it somewhat. The bun was not soft enough to really get that dreamy bite down experience so that also detracted a bit from the eating experience. If i had to rate it i would give this burger 3* as it did contain all the most important elements that i think a burger should have, which is lettuce, tomato, and the onion ring and facon was an added bonus.

I was presented the bill before i managed to finish eating as they were keen to wrap up the day and do their accounts.. so i obliged without complaint. It was a fair price for what it was and cheaper than many places, but NO comparison to the price or quality of Vegan Phuket! The bill came to around $12 and that included my fruit smoothie and two main courses.. so not too bad value.

Interestingly my belly did not feel very good later than night and even the next morning something was not quite right. Im not sure what the issue was but im guessing things may have been fried in old oil or bad oil.. who can say! I guess junk food is junk food and we should just expect to not feel great after eating it! It was good to try this place, but i wont be returning when i have so many other incredible options!
