Everyone has felt regrets, awkward and embarrassing moments in their life and my life is no different. It all happened some years back, it was recess time and all the students were sitting, talking and discussing amongst ourselves about school, the movies we watched and other things. From the rear end of the class we heard a loud noise like a shout, we all went out to find out what was happening and it was two of our classmates John and Kelvin had got into a fight. The reason they were fighting was became of a girl called Naomi which was my cousin sister, argument started between them over Naomi who was a common friend of theirs and my cousin sister.
Naomi attended the same school with me in fifth grade, but during my jss3 Naomi, John and kelvin including me attended the same math tutorial at the same center, when I heard my sister name being called over and over again by john i walked straight to him out of anger without even listening to what he has to say I yelled at him as to why he was fighting over my sister, John tried to explain to me what happened but i took no heed to as what he was saying and blasted at him that he was rude and as my friend he was not suppose to fight over my sister with another boy. He was a nasty boy as he was talking ill about Naomi, my cousin sister. I reeled and shouted at him over and over again without giving a break or even allowing him to speak to explain himself as to what happened.
When all efforts made by John to make me listen fell on deaf ears, John walked away in silence and angry. After sometime I cooled off and stopped shouting at that point. By that time the whole class was at uproar and were debating whether i took matters out of hand, some took my side while some pointed fingers at John , while others tried to calm me down on John behave. My close friend Ngozi was upset about the entire scene and she told me that I had over reacted in the whole situation.
No sooner did kelvin who John was fighting with passed by and I called him , he came and I asked him to explain everything that happened. He did explain what happened but left some details out but while he was trying to leave some details out to cover himself up but my classmates ebube which witnessed the whole scene paused him and told us everything that happened. She told me one by one the entire conversation that took place between kelvin and John and to my up most surprise I realized that john was nowhere guilty, instead he was defending Naomi from kelvin for speaking ill things about Naomi. I was ashamed, embarrassed and felt guilty of my actions. I suddenly realized that there was pin drop of silence in the classroom and as I looked up there was my friend John standing in front of me.
I hugged him and whispered into his ears I am sorry, he then replied and said no worries sometimes friends make mistakes. As we were still reconciling everyone in the class screamed and yelled in happiness as the differences between both of us have been cleared but in the midst of all this happiness and joy I warned kelvin never to try such thing he just did to my cousin sister again and that was how it all ended. I learned a lesson that day and it was never to think the worst out of people and allow them to say what they have to say cause most times they may not be at fault.
