Being holy does not mean pretending to be perfect. It means choosing to live in a way that respects God, even when nobody is watching.
The world will always give you reasons to compromise. People may tell you that certain things are normal, that everyone does them, or that you are missing out if you refuse. But holiness is sometimes about being willing to stand alone when your values are being tested.
Being holy does not mean you will never make mistakes. You are still human. You may fall, make poor choices, or go against what you believe. What matters is what you do afterwards. Do you ignore it, or do you recognise it, learn from it, and try to do better?
Holiness also starts with what you allow into your mind. What you constantly watch, listen to, think about, and entertain can slowly influence the person you become. You cannot control everything around you, but you can have a say in what you keep feeding your mind.
Most importantly, holiness should come from genuine love for God, not simply fear of punishment. If you believe God is real and you want a relationship with Him, then your actions should gradually reflect that belief.
Being holy in today’s world may not always be easy. There will be pressure, temptation, and moments when doing the right thing feels inconvenient. But your character is built through those moments.
You do not become holy because you never struggle. You become stronger in holiness each time you choose what you believe is right, even when choosing it costs you something.
