If anyone asked about my health, let you know, I'm alive and well.
The only thing is that for the last week, my thoughts have been 100% focused on what is happening in Serbia.
I followed up with a comment on tarazkp's post about the elections, and wrote how much I hope that this time, the candidates for forming the government that we elected, will do something different than what the new government did in 2000.
My friend ph1102, who left Serbia exactly 14 years ago, that is, exactly in the year when the dictatorial and criminal government came to the whole country, also wrote a post about the elections and asked the question "Do we believe in change".
This time, I not only believe that changes will happen, but I can already write that I am sure that there will be changes.
Fear changed sides, and the people opened their eyes.
The Prosecutor's Office files indictments for cases that have been buried deep in some drawers for years, activities are launched against TV stations that spread hate speech on the national frequency and reported biasedly (all at the behest of the authorities).
We went to the polls on 25.10.
There are 5.6 million registered in the electoral roll (although in reality there are about 5.5 million of us). Officially reported turnout of 70%, I think if the voter rolls were correct the statistics would be almost 90% turnout.
And those 90% (let alone 70%) voted for changes, to remove the organized criminal group SNS.
And it happened.
The government (that is "Jedan čovek nikad sreću nemao!") admitted defeat.
I don't know if that man is aware, what was the reason of his downfall? Not that his mafia group in government stole everywhere, on every project, that they robbed every institution for a whole decade...
The beginning of his downfall started exactly two years ago, on November 1, 2024. when 16 people lost their lives under the collapsed overpass, which was unprofessionally renovated and which should not have been put into use.
The beginning of its downfall was the moment when the young students of Serbia sent requests to prosecute those responsible for the fall of that canopy, and those responsible pretended to be deaf and in the media the students and the people were called Blockaders and various derogatory names...
Today, a commemoration was held in Novi Sad, which I could not attend, but that's why yesterday I attended the last 16 minutes of silence (for the 16th victim) in front of the Faculty of Law in Belgrade.
There were a lot of people in Novi Sad today, I think even more than last year, and I hope that someone from Hive who had the opportunity to attend today's meeting will post a photo, as bil.prag did in his post last year.
And at yesterday's meeting, I cried.
I cried like the rain falling on my open umbrella. I cried and I was not ashamed, because I saw tears in the eyes of other women and men, in the eyes of bikers and war veterans.
Fuck it, I've been crying since the evening of Sunday, October 25, when the defeat of SNS was recognized, at all kinds of news.
I cry at the news that in any of the normal countries I would never have heard, because they would never have been released to the public, because the institutions would have done their job and brought and arrested all the thieves and would not have allowed the state in which the government serves the state and not their own pockets.
I cried even today as I watched 16 minutes of silence on the streets in front of the train station in Novi Sad.
But I am not only crying out of sadness for the victims under this regime, there are also tears of joy in my eyes because of the freedom that we finally feel at every step in Serbia.
While I am editing this text, in Dnevnik RTS1, there is a report about today's rally: "RTS, the public service of Serbia, is reporting from such rallies today for the first time".
I feel sick when I look at them and there are tears in my eyes, because of my anger at the media public service of Serbia, which for years, and especially the last two, lied and hid important information from the citizens of Serbia. Now, after the change of government, they want to wash the shame from their name.
Maybe, but hard...
And yesterday I met with my friends, who, like me, are disappointed with what we allowed to happen to our homeland.
That president, now citizen Vučić, when he was in office as president, promised the students who started the protests and other citizens: "I will destroy you in the whole world."
You sick liar, I believe that the reputation of our Serbia really managed to be destroyed in the whole world, but I hope that the new government, led by professors and doctors of science, will restore to Serbia the reputation that our ancestors, the winners of the world wars, gained for it.
He failed to deliver us, whom he promised to destroy, and I expect that he will soon go to the dustbin of political history, and probably more than 2.5 million citizens of Serbia wish to go to prison, which he richly deserved.
And that is why, from today, when we cried tears for the victims in Novi Sad and tears for all the injustice that this government inflicted on the people of Serbia, we are turning over a new leaf.
No more crying.
As of today, we look forward to every news about the successful indictment of thieves, to every dismissal from state office, to every apprehension and arrest.
As one young woman said a year ago into the microphone of a regime TV station: "I will play a Kolo when they broadcast your arrests".
I made an agreement with my friends, when the news about the arrest of citizen Vučić is transmitted, we will go to celebrate in some serious restaurant, and you, rest assured, when that happens, I will share my happiness and mood with you.
