BATTLE LINK -- July 25, 2024 -- Day 207 of 366 vs.
Today's battle comes from the middle of Season 139 in Modern Champion ranked play. The battle allowed 39 mana, only death and fire elements, and had 3 rulesets: Little League, Equal Opportunity, and Briar Patch. Interestingly, my opponent and I chose rare Chaos Legion summoners from different elements.
I was fearful of magic attack with the briar patch ruleset, so I stacked my lineup with void so that Chaos Animator and Xenith Monk would be my first two monsters to get attacked. Thaddeus provided another layer of magic defense, although Dr. Blight was their only magic monster. On the other hand, I brought an offensive with four magic attackers.
The featured card is the Chaos Legion neutral common Scavo Hireling. This null attack utility guy does it all with slow, repair, and 5 speed. Another key ability is camouflage, which I took advantage of in this opportunity battle to protect my attackers. Hireling, Dr. Blight, and Moxian Rebel all have camouflage, so they stayed safe in my backline while their magic attack decimated the opponent's team.
Briar patch scared them off of melee, Riftwing debuffed their ranged attack, and I already explained my plan against magic. Kinjo proved to be a bit of a thorn in my side with his reflection shield, but the fire team crumbled in due time without much of a threat. My magic attack was too mighty for his Heatsmith to hold off for long and my high-health monsters stood tall.
