If you haven't seen this movie by now, by all means go an watch it, right now. One of my favorite movies to watch and one of the greatest films of all time. Tom Hanks how you say does not go "full retard" and pulls it off very well. As we all know, Forrest isn't the brightest guy. But, he knew the difference between what was wrong and what was right. When he was younger, his mother instilled many lessons in him, some of which he talks about in the movie to others. He's put in many historic events in United States history of what some say was the most important time in history. He's been to the White House to meet 2 different presidents for being an All American in College Football and later for earning the medal of honor and the purple heart in the Vietnam war for being shot in the ass. He's seen witnessing the Watergate conspiracy and attends a Hippy influenced anti-war rally in Washington, D.C.
I think it's a unique story for sure. The entire movie you never see Forrest really have any girlfriends except for Jenny. Almost as if his whole life he was just waiting for Jenny to come to him. He makes a best friend while serving in one of the most terrifying wars in U.S. History and starts a million dollar business with his old Drill Sergeant from the war. His story gives you visuals of unique moments in our country's history while at the same time establishing one of the most interesting stories ever told. It'll make you laugh. It'll make you cry. And you'll love it! 5/5! Absolute classic!
