Welcome to Readers’ Week 2024, where we celebrate the thoughts and voices of our blooming community. This year, we invited our readers to share their thoughts on the theme “Clean Slate” as the academic year restarts - unfolding a tale of fresh starts, new beginnings and untold stories. From an array of incredible submissions, we’ve chosen the top seven, and as difficult as that was, these pieces best embody this powerful theme.

फिर एक बार मिलो ना पहली बार की तरह,
फिर एक बार तुम्हें पहली बार देखना है,

फिर एक बार मुखातिब हो ना पहली बार की तरह,
फिर एक बार तुम्हारी आवाज़ सुनने का इंतज़ार करना है।

तुम शायद अंजान रही हो हमेशा, तुम्हें ये पता तक नहीं होगा
कि तुम्हारे बारे में सोचे बिना मेरा दिन कटता तक नहीं था,

तुम्हें आँखों के सामने देख कर ये दिल ज़ोर से धड़कता था,
पर शायद तुम्हें ये मालूम तक नहीं था।

हर जगह तुम्हारा ज़िक्र हर किसी से, हर बार करना था,
शायद तुम ये भी नहीं जानती होगी, बाकी हर बात की तरह।

अपनी हर एक आरज़ू के बारे में अच्छे से बताना था तुम्हें,
तुम फिर एक बार मिलना ज़रूर, पहली बार की तरह।

ना चाहते हुए भी कुछ कहानियाँ अधूरी ही रह जाती हैं हमेशा,
पर सुना है अधूरा इश्क़ भी दर्द काफी खूबसूरत देता है।

फिर एक बार, उन बातों को पूरा करने का मौका चाहिए,
क्योंकि दर्द जितना खूबसूरत होता है, दर्द बहुत देता है।

पहली बार की तरह, फिर से वो कहानी दोहराएँगे?
समझ तो आज भी नहीं आया ये बात तुम्हें कैसे बताएँगे।

तुम बिन कहे समझ जाने की कुछ गुफ्तगू करने का इरादा है,
क्योंकि तुम्हारे सामने मेरे अल्फ़ाज़ निकल नहीं पाएँगे।

फिर एक बार पहली बार की तरह कुछ वक्त निकाल के आना कभी,
तुम्हारे साथ फिर कुछ पल बिताने हैं, हर बार की तरह।

पर इस बार तुम्हें दिल की बातें बतानी ज़रूर हैं,
सुनना तुम भी अच्छे से ज़रा,
फिर एक बार मिलो ना कभी, एक दूसरे से अंजान पहली बार की तरह।
