Has anyone here ever seen the anime series FLCL? It's kinda an insane comming of age story involving aliens. It utilizes varied and insane animation styles that change episode to episode.
In the first episode they do a ballsy animation setup where they animate a manga page of FLCL:
Then the animation team yelled at the director and were like, "WE ARE NOT DOING THAT AGAIN!"
Funnily enough, it became so iconic to the series that fans demanded they bring that style back, and so they did in the last episodes. Anyway, that whole dynamic is kind of how I feel about the psychedelic portions of the comic. It has been INSANE to write and illustrate issues 4 and 5, and yet I feel like fans will be disappointed once the psychedelic drugs wear off and our characters are forced to face cosmic horror in normal colors again, haha. We'll have to bring this style back!
