We use so much more black ink in these pages than we usually do in this series. Longtime readers of this blog will know that we use a dark dark burgundy as our standard "black" so that when we bring in Rot we can use true black to cue readers into the idea that this stuff is blacker than blacker, darker than the night, wholly wrong within this universe. It reminds me of a trick I read about one of the great batman classic graphic novels (though I can't remember which one). They weren't happy with how the blacks were looking, so they decided to print the whole comic on black paper. What a mindfuck that must have been to the illustrator, having to draw the inks essentially in reverse since all of the untouched spaces would end up being a glossy, deep, black.
