Neuro-developmental disorders (NDDs) are considered among high priorities in the cgovernment scheme of things in health sector in Bangladesh. To address the need for providing specialist diagnostic and therapeutic needs for the children with NDDs HSM is operating 15 multidisciplinary Child Development Centres (বাংলা : শিশু বিকাশ কেন্দ্র ) in the country. A large number of children with NDDs are benefiting from the service which emphasizes on follow-up visits, with functional improvements in motor, vision, hearing, speech language communication, cognition, and behavioral domains, and comprehensive management of seizure disorders; and special emphasis on activities of daily living (ADL) . Professionals work closely with the family to optimize every child’s developmental potential, improve their quality of life and prevent disability. Till the start of the services in in 2008-09, more than 4 lac children have got services from the 15 CDCs.
