Life is a fiddly little thing. It's like a soft glow emitting from a candlestick that can flicker out in a moment of notice, and when it does, eternal darkness just might surround oneself.

Every second that passes is just another moment in the past, and every breath we take is one that goes straight into the void of oblivion. We, humans, are, after all, not designed to live forever. And the doorway to reaching immortality in this world isn't something that has been achieved yet.

I have a habit of going round and round thinking about this very topic. How our lives are just microscopic glitches in this vast universe, and, if looking at it in a non-religious manner, just an accident that happened while creating the stars. Our existence surely doesn't affect the vast galaxies, and the stars could care less whether we, the living, lived or died.

So all this, fighting for our lives, these endless qualms to gain glory or fame, is in the end really pointless. It's not like the sun ever stopped giving us light, even before we discovered there was even a sun, to begin with, nor did it ever will, until it reaches its demise. So, in the end, what really is the point with all this fighting, this greed and hunger of getting the upper hand, when there is no one, at sometimes not even the human race, who actually cares about what you achieve.

Everything that is born, must always die. It's a formula even the stars seem to follow. So if we are to die, if we are to get caught up by oblivion and then be swallowed whole, what is the point of trying to chase whatever we chase?

Sadly, I've never come across a solid answer in my head. My head speaks out a different answer each time, so I try to avoid thinking about this question, even though it bothers me very often.

But all these inconsistent answers of mine did make me realise one thing, though, that this wild chase we all do in our life, the fight we face for something better, is one of the driving forces that wills us to live on. A man without a purpose is, after all, a dying man. And we definitely, do not want to die.

Sadly the thing that happens between these fights and flights to live on, most of us fascinatingly forget to 'live'. And thus, a lot of those that have died and perished in this everlasting battle against oblivion, die without knowing what being alive entails.

Life is like flickering candlelight, ready to be blown away at any moment. And just as a candle ensures that every bit of it is spent on glowing as bright as it can glow while it lives, we humans must remember to do that as well.

Glow for yourself. Glow for others. Spend your life in such a fulfilling way that once you die, there is nothing left but your empty body. No left behind dreams, no half-filled promises or desires. No unspoken words. Because this life is so so small, so what's the point of working and waiting for the right moment to fly? There is no right moment in this reality, because moments are the only thing we have to ourselves. It's the only thing we have until our very last breath....

The truth is, in the end, no matter what highly things I say, I am also among the millions who sit back and let life pass by.

But these days, I am teaching myself to be just a little bit more brave. Because even a little bit of bravery, is a start. And starting, is the hardest part.
