Dispassionate

"Dispassionate" is a spoken word poem which I recorded as just my voice. I didn't think it was necessary to put music behind it as it stands by itself. I included it as the ninth track on my Bandlab album "In My Memory".

Dispassionate
I don't give a damn
Not letting those words slam
Into my mind anymore.

Numb like stone
Clear head
I refuse to be dead
Just dispassionate
Not a drone
But living my own mind
Not a clone
Of what I've been told
Making my own way
None can say
What I really am
But I know what I'm not
Like a clot
Breaking away
Spawning the stroke
That broke
Those ugly thoughts
From my head
Dispassionate
Not cold
Just not hot
For the old
Way of thinking
Not shrinking
But climbing
My own ladder
To heights higher
And more sure.
