I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. With each passing day technology continues to evolve, and things we never thought were possible are now done daily without even blinking an eye. I have seen a clone movie countless times, and trust me, since it's already being acted out in the movies, then it is only a matter of time before it becomes a reality we would have to deal with. There are many realities we are dealing with today, like self-driving cars and even electric cars that were first all seen in sci-fi movies. We thought it was not possible, and today we already have them.
Having technology get to the point where we can make clones of ourselves for our own advantage, there will be many who will jump on this without even waiting to be told or waiting to go over the merits and the demerits; they will just learn all of that through experience, and as they go, there will also be many who will be skeptical but still give it a shot anyway, and then there will be those who will not even consider it no matter how much advantage having a clone has to offer them, and as humans, we all fall into one of these 3 categories: we either go all in or hold back and then eventually give it a shot or not get into it at all.
If I have the window to choose if I want a clone with all of my memory or not, my answer to this question totally depends on how this clone operates. Will the clone have a free mind of its own and act on its own? Or will this clone be something I can control, like be in full control of the clone such that they only take action based on my say-so? So the answers to these questions are what will determine if I am jumping on it and getting myself cloned or not. A clone that has his own free mind and can take action on his own can commit a crime, and I end up paying for a crime I did not commit. A clone with its own free mind can bring more harm than actual good.
A clone that I am in full control of is definitely the type I am jumping on, one that only works based on the instructions from me and not acting on its own. That way I can keep tabs on the clone and make sure he is not out there doing things that can land both me and him in big trouble. That way, based on instructions, I can have my clone represent me in places I don't want to be while I lazy around or do other things that really matter to me.
So, if it is a clone that has a free mind of its own. I am not jumping on it, and I don't need that type of clone, but if it is one I have control of, then I can consider having myself cloned. Having a clone is already dangerous enough, and that makes having one you are in control of very important and not one that can act and operate on their own.
