Lullabies from the past

We all know that scents can trigger memories. Walk past a bakery and maybe you're transported to those favorite cupcakes that you ate as a child. Simmering chicken noodle soup on the stove can evoke Grandma's kitchen- snuggled together at the table, cooling the broth with pursed lips, toes barely touching the floor.

Those little visions are so tangible at times, I feel like I can reach out and touch their faces, brush my fingers through hair, feel the warmth of their embrace.

Just a few days ago, @enginewitty was dog tired. We had just picked up @crescendoofpeace from the airport and stress, lack of sleep, excess of excitement, and random worries had robbed him from rest. I offered to drive so that he could lean back in the passenger chair. On the way back from the airport - before the songs became silly, (Cori... you know what I mean hahaha) I asked him if he needed a lullabye. He said yes, I sang a verse & a chorus - and then promptly forgot the rest of the words!

Since that car ride, I've been singing the first verse of this song over and over, and I finally decided it was time to look up the lyrics. As soon as I saw them, I smiled. Memories from years ago rushed back. I know exactly what sweet, distant memory this will always take me to. Aren't you glad that eternal youth can be preserved inside the warm, safe home inside our minds?
