After the uncountable hours I have spent on steemit I still couldn't tell you what the site is really about or the direction it looks to be going in. I know steemit is still in beta version however it has been around for a while with know more clear sense of direction than ever before.

There are the basic ideas of the site post text and images, gain income, though this is really all we have to go on. The large sites I visit on the internet have been around for longer but they have a much clearer identity and direction.

Examples:

  • Instagram, within seconds of visiting the site you can tell it is
mainly based around posting and sharing images and videos of your
life and exciting activities to share with others.

  • Facebook, to keep in contact with people and to find old friends or
acquaintances you have lost contact with and update people on your
    status'.

  • YouTube, Share videos with people, non specific genre but keep it
    family friendly.

  • Reddit, looking for information, look know further, find communities
for specific shows, activities or just find some random info.

What's our niche?

Steemit is a blogging site where you can make money, decentralized.....

Are we a community driven site? so is the direction purely down to the content creators?
I'm not sure if the devs have a direction they want to see content take or do they really just want the community to completely decide what we all want and don't want to see.

Crypto based? If you come to steemit are you expected to have an interest in crypto, so is the site mainly hear for discussion of everything crypto and what the steemit blockchain can do.

The main difference I see with the sites mentioned and Steemit is that the owners of the other sites have a lay out of what they want and don't want to see. I guess Steemit doesn't have this because of the whole decentralized aspect which is understandable however we are left with a sort of big mix and match of everything.

Maybe that is the direction of steemit, a community based place where people can be creative with what they post and share ideas and get honest feedback. What direction do you think steemit is taking? Let me know in the comments, Upvote if you enjoyed and Follow for more.
