From when I first joined steemit I have actively tried to follow peoples pages if I enjoyed one of their posts and when I first joined I just followed people in hopes they would follow back. It eventually got to the point where I had followed nearly 300 pages, at that point my home page was just flooded by so many posts that I rarely noticed my favorite pages.
After a while of not noticing these pages my interest in steemit began to fade, it just happened that around this time I also lost some interest in what I was posting, which lead me to stop visiting the site altogether. Since that point I had wanted to post but just wasn't sure what to write about but a few months ago I decided to bite the bullet and post again.
In the past few months I have been regularly posting however I have not looked at my feed but instead just at different tags.
Spring cleaning
Getting into the main point of this post, I have began the slightly tedious task of unfollowing all the people who have been inactive for a long time along with the people I followed to gain a follow back. I confess it is taking longer than I first wanted but it needs to be done so I can start to follow active accounts I enjoy.
This all got me thinking that it probably is important to occasionally go through the people we follow and unfollow the pages that are inactive or that we don't have real interest in so we can enjoy steemit more and comment and vote on posts we enjoy.
It is interesting to me how easy it can be to get caught up in the process of building our own pages that we forget to just enjoy what other people post. Hopefully I can muster the patience to finish unfollwing pages asap so I can follow more active people and enjoy not just posting but other peoples posts, and I would advise you to see if you are having the same issue.
